NCCIA BOARD NEWS
Running a Business in the Home
Your board
has received complaints of neighbors running a business from the
home. The following conditions are evidence that violate the Deed
Restriction of running a business out of a residence.
Workers show up regularly
at the home and proceed from there to a work location.
Equipment is parked
overnight adjacent to the residence.
Employees drive vehicles
registered to the home owner.
Customers arrive and
depart from the residence.
Frequent deliveries arrive at the residence.
The residence telephone
number, and or, mailing address is listed for the business.
In order to pursue this type of
Deed Restriction violation, documentation of the violating
activity is needed. Such items as business cards, flyers with
address or telephone number, photographs of vehicles used for the
business with license plate numbers, date and time of customer or
delivery activity. We need to actively move on these people that
degrade the neighborhood and reduce property values. The Board
depends on the neighbors to provide the information on which to
proceed according to the laws that apply. Without your help and
involvement little can be accomplished in reducing this type of
activity.
When violations of the law occur
the same community involvement is required. The residents too
often do not call the Constable when they see or hear of untoward
activity. Failure to make the call gives the perpetrator a pass
and emboldens continued activity that is detrimental to our
community. PLEASE GET INVOLVED. The more we do the safer and
more attractive or neighborhood will be.
HEAVY TRASH DAY
WCA Waste Corporation will collect
Heavy Trash on Saturday April 14 at NOTTINGHAM COUNTRY PARK on
Rennie from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Please bring a drivers license
proving you are a NCCIA resident. Prohibited items are TIRES,
BATTERIES & HAZARDOUS MATERIALS. (i.e. paints, flammables, acids,
etc.) Shrub and tree waste need not be bundled. Harris County
manages disposal sites for Household Waste. One is located at
5400 West Park. Also, mobile units have pick-ups at various
locations through out the year. Information is available at
cleanwaterclearchoice.org and at 713-290-3000. Let’s do our part
in not damaging the environment. Keep these items out of the storm
drainage system.
The Board receives complaints about
residents that do not subscribe for trash service and leave
garbage around the premises. This is a violation of the Harris
County health code. Observers need to call the County Health
Department at 713-439-6000.
Ron Hudson,
NCCIA Board President
The
recent rash of “tagging” (spray painting) on buildings in about
the North End of the subdivision has become a serious concern of
residents and the constable’s officers. Patrols in this area have
been increased and the owners of the buildings affected have been
asked to clean/repair the damage and be more vigilant.
We are asking the community to be
more vigilant also. The officers will respond quickly to any
calls for suspicious persons and if residents can take license
numbers or provide detailed descriptions it would be very
beneficial.
Please take an active part in
assisting the officers. The number to report any activity of this
type is 281-463-6666.

Did you know we have very good
performing arts right here in Katy? The Katy High Schools have
quality performing arts for those of us who enjoy the
entertainment but would like to stay closer to home.
KISD even offers a "Gold Card" for
those aged 65+. It allows reduced rate or free admission to the
schools' performances and sports events. For information go to
