NOTTINGHAM HAPPENINGS
The Nottingham Country Annual meeting was held Tuesday, November 20th, 2007. The following existing Board members were re-elected for two year terms:
Allen Hess Shanon
Hole
Bruce Hamelin Carol Neef-Brown
For 2008, the NCCIA Board of Directors consists of the following:
Allen Hess Shanon
Hole
Bruce Hamelin Carol Neef-Brown
Robert Wills Don Mach
Ken Gentile Kim Svetlik
Officers were chosen at the December
13th monthly meeting and the information is posted on the Association website,
www.nottinghamcountry.org and will be listed in the next edition of the
newsletter.
The 2008 annual maintenance fee invoices were sent out the end of November. The
assessment remains at $200. Please note that the fee is due on 12/31/07. If it
is not paid by 1/31/08 there will be a late fee assessed of approximately $20
depending upon the section you live. If it is not paid by 2/28/08 an additional
fee of $30 is added. Save yourselves some hard earned money and make your
payment on time! At the time this article is being written, there are still 23
homeowners who have not yet paid the 2007 assessment and 12 others who owe for
two or more years. If you are one of the 23 still owing for 2007, please remit,
make arrangements or your bill will be increasing substantially due to
additional legal fees.
As previously mentioned, we have asked the Constable’s Office to pay close
attention to the park and to enforce the hours of operation. The Park closes at
9:00 PM on Sunday through Thursday evenings and at 10:00 PM on Friday and
Saturday evenings. The hours are very much in line with those of other
neighborhood parks. If someone is found in the park after closing hours, they
will be asked to leave. Recently the Constable’s deputies have arrested
juveniles using drugs and alcohol in the park. This type of activity will not be
tolerated and tough enforcement will continue. At the annual meeting, some
residents commented about changing the park hours to remain open later in the
evening. The Board would like to hear comments from homeowners regarding this
matter. Should the hours be changed? We wish to accommodate park users but we
also have to consider the homeowners who live near the park with respect to
noise level, etc. Please express your views by sending us an email via the
website.
The Board is also soliciting comments regarding portable basketball goals. When
our deed restrictions were written in the late 70’s they did not yet exist so
there was no mention of such. Should the Board regulate the location, size,
color, etc of portable goals? Should they be placed away from public view when
not in use? We have received some complaints and we are asking homeowners to
give us some feedback regarding these structures. Again, please go to our
website and send us an email.
The NCCIA Board of Directors would like to wish all residents of Nottingham
Country a Merry Christmas and a healthy joyous New Year.

ARCHITECTUAL REVIEW
Because we are an
older subdivision, most of us are looking to upgrade both the insides and
outsides of our homes. Architectural Review is concerned with the outside
appearance of these upgrades and its purpose is to maintain the flavor of our
neighborhood. No one wants his neighbor to paint his house pink, or install some
large unattractive feature in his front yard or extend the house forward of the
building line, and these are the types of things Architectural Review tries to
prevent.
The process is very simple and usually takes only a few days. The review form
may be found on the website, www.nottinghamcountry.org or by calling SCS
Management Services at 281-463-1777. Simply fill out the form and send it to SCS
Management Services. They mail the form to an Architectural Review volunteer.
The volunteer will drive by your home and perhaps visit with you about the
changes you want to make. After they approve the changes and approval letter
will be sent to the homeowner as notice to proceed.
I believe that Nottingham Country is a hidden jewel of custom-built homes, each
with its own identity in a perfect west Houston location. I also believe we
should do what we can to preserve our jewel. True, we are not the newest
subdivision, but to our advantage we have individually designed houses with
beautiful landscaping including mature oak and pine trees that the newer areas
do not have. If we want to increase our property values, we must maintain that
advantage. We do that through Architectural Control, which deals with the longer
term, more permanent changes to our properties.

HEAVY TRASH PICKUP DAY
Some residents have inquired when we
will have the next heavy trash day at the park. The next heavy trash pickup will
be in early spring. At this time we don’t have a date, but it will be either
March or April. We should have the exact date in this publication next month and
will post signs shortly before the actual day. Remember that the responsibility
for your trash pick-up is now in the hands of Mason Creek Utility District.
