NOTTINGHAM HAPPENINGS Effective 8/19/08, there remains 65 homeowners who are past due for their 2008 annual assessment of $200 which was due 1/31/08. Of that number 16 homeowners are past due for two or more years. The Association has filed lawsuits against seven of those homeowners. Three homeowners are in bankruptcy and three are on monthly payment plans. Liens have now been filed against the 49 homeowners and their properties that still owe for only 2008. If you are one of the 49 we strongly urge you to take care of this matter as the next step is legal action and it will cost you a minimum of $2000 in legal fees. As previously stated, it appears to be many of the same hard cores year after year who place themselves in this position and it costs them a great deal more money in the long run. We continue to receive reports of some homeowners potentially operating a business out of their homes. We ask that NC homeowners advise our management company or an NCCIA Board member if you see commercial vehicles continually being parked in a driveway or in the front of a home. Another indication is seeking workers coming to a home in the morning and leaving in the afternoon. The Board is very serious about stopping this type of activity and the assistance of all homeowners is appreciated. Don

Director Elected
Steve Farrell was elected to the NCCIA Board at the August 14th Board Meeting. Mr. Farrell will fill the unexpired term vacated by former Director Shanon Hole and his term will expire November 2009. Mr. Farrell and his family recently moved to Nottingham Country and reside in Section 8. He is employed with Kellogg Brown & Root. Steve is a native Houstonian and graduated from HBU. The Board welcomes Steve and thanks him for taking the time to become involved in the community. As previously disclosed in a past newsletter, current NCCIA Director Ken Gentile has chosen to not stand for re-election this November so the Board is seeking a qualified candidate for the Board. Interested parties should go to WWW.nottinghamcountry.org and complete an application and sent it to Carol Neef-Brown, NCCIA Secretary.
Update on Yard
of the Month
As you
know, we had a nearby business that approached us about sponsoring a
Yard of the Month program for Nottingham. They were to provide
the sign and offer a prize each month. Your Board of Directors
thought that was a good idea and went forward with the plan.Somewhere along the way, however, something happened and the business didnÕt respond to our calls and questions. Therefore your board has decided to sponsor the project. The committee chose a house Ð actually in July Ð to be the first Yard of the Month. We have ordered a sign, and we have voted to give a $50 certificate from LoweÕs each month, May through September, as the prize. In December, we will give first, second and third place prizes for the homes with the most festive holiday decorations. So Ð as soon as the sign is ready, we will announce the winner. We will call it the current month even though it was July. Carol Neef-Brown NCCIA Secretary
As previously noted on our website, NC and surrounding subdivisions have recently experienced a rash of automobile break ins. This was mostly occurring to vehicles left unlocked or parked in the street. Put your vehicles in a locked garage or at the very least, park them in the driveway and lock them when not in use. This will go a long way to discourage this type of activity. NCCIA Board of Directors |
